75 Hard Restart Day 6: Delayed Flights, Airport Laps & 23 Hours of Travel

Restart Day 6.

We slept in!

After the last few days, I think my body needed it.

I woke up around 8 AM, which is SUPER late for me.

But after:

  • red eyes

  • graduation ceremonies

  • airport running

  • sleeping on planes

  • walking miles in heels

my body was clearly asking for recovery.

Morning Workout + Sore Feet

The first thing I did was head down to the hotel gym for my morning workout.

And after spending hours in heels running all over Providence the day before, my:

  • feet

  • ankles

  • lower back

were all feeling it.

So instead of pushing through some high-impact workout, I chose the stationary bike.

That felt like the most aligned choice.

Movement that supported my body instead of punishing it.

The Search for Special K

After the workout, I headed down to the continental breakfast in search of one thing:

Special K Red Berries.

My favorite cereal.

I don’t really buy cereal anymore, so hotel continental breakfasts are basically one of the only times I ever eat it.

Sadly…

they didn’t have any.

Tragic.

But they did have my second choice:
Raisin Bran.

So breakfast became:

  • Raisin Bran

  • two small strawberry yogurts

Still pretty satisfying.

Packing Up + Helping My Daughter Move Out

After breakfast, I headed back to the room to:

  • shower

  • get ready

  • finish packing

before checkout at 11.

Then we headed over to help my newly graduated daughter finish packing up the last of her dorm room.

Which somehow always feels like:

  • 10% packing

  • 90% emotional support and random errands

We also made a quick Target run for supplies for her new home.

Because apparently graduation immediately turns into:
“Okay now how do I become an adult adult?”

Late Lunch at Carrara

Before heading to the airport, we stopped for a late lunch at Carrara's.

It ended up being one of those meals that felt fresh and grounding in the middle of complete travel chaos.

I ordered:

  • a Caesar salad

  • a Caprese salad for my entrée

Simple. Fresh. Light enough that I didn’t feel weighed down before traveling all night.

And just as we were finishing eating…

we got the notification.

Our flights had changed.

Originally we only had:

  • one connection

  • arrival into San Francisco International Airport around 1 AM Pacific

Which was already exhausting.

But now?

We suddenly had:

  • TWO connections

  • arrival around noon Pacific

  • which would actually be 3 PM Eastern time to our bodies

And because we live way out in the country now, that still meant another 2.5-hour drive home after landing.

Which translated into almost 23.5 hours of travel total.

Absolutely not.

Racing to the Airport

At that point it was already almost 5 PM Eastern.

So we immediately headed to the airport hoping we could get onto a better flight.

And thankfully we managed to improve it slightly.

The best option available got us into SFO around:

  • 9:30 AM Pacific

  • 12:30 PM Eastern

Still brutal.

But better.

So we checked in, found our gate, and settled in for the chaos.

Airport Walking + Water Chugging

At this point, I was still trying to finish all my water before boarding.

Because the LAST thing I wanted was to keep getting up on the plane to use the bathroom every 20 minutes.

So while chugging water…

I also walked laps around the airport terminal for extra movement.

And literally every lap required another bathroom stop.

The glamorous side of hydration.

After my laps, I sat down and read my pages from The River of Doubt before boarding.

Carry-On Chaos Again

During boarding, the flight crew announced they were checking all carry-ons again.

You could keep:

  • your personal item under the seat

but anything overhead was getting checked to speed things up.

And good thing they did.

Because it was a VERY tight connection.

Running Through Airports Again

The flight to Philadelphia was short.

But once we landed, we had to deplane directly onto the tarmac so they could hand back our carry-ons.

Then immediately run.

Again.

This time it was basically an 18-minute speed walk from Terminal F to Terminal B.

And by the time we reached the gate, they were already boarding Group 9:
the final boarding group.

We barely slipped onto the plane.

Again.

At this point, sprinting through airports is basically becoming part of my cardio routine.

Chicago O’Hare Overnight

The second flight was short too.

And landing in O'Hare International Airport actually went smoothly.

But now it was:

  • midnight Central time

  • 10 PM Pacific

  • 1 AM Eastern

And we still had a six-hour layover.

My daughter and I tried getting comfortable in the terminal chairs.

Which absolutely did not work.

I kept hoping she’d fall asleep at least.

But the last time I remember checking my phone it was 4:44 AM Central…

and then suddenly it was 5 AM because she had set an alarm.

At that point, I’m not even sure either of us really slept at all.

What I’m Noticing on Restart Day 6

This whole trip has been one long lesson in adaptation.

Schedules changing.
Flights rerouting.
Bodies exhausted.
Plans shifting constantly.

And I think this is where alignment becomes less about routines looking pretty…

and more about staying connected to yourself while life keeps moving.

Because structure matters.

But flexibility matters too.

And sometimes the most aligned thing you can do is:

  • choose the stationary bike instead of forcing impact workouts

  • walk airport terminals instead of skipping movement entirely

  • adjust without spiraling

  • support yourself instead of criticizing yourself

That balance between feminine flow and masculine structure is everything.

Restart Day 6 Complete

Airport laps.
Delayed flights.
Raisin Bran breakfast.
Still aligned.
