75 Hard Day 14: Eel River Walks, Hotel Life & 7 Pounds Down

Saturday — Day 14.

Day 14 started slowly in Humboldt.

We woke up around 7 AM, and my partner headed out to continue helping his sister.

Meanwhile, I decided to start my morning with a walk along the Eel River.

And it was beautiful.

Cool air.
Quiet morning.
Just enough movement to wake my body up without overdoing it.

Late Morning Coffee + Hotel Breakfast

Before breakfast, I stopped and got a latte with 2 pumps pistachio.

And after two weeks of eating much cleaner and cutting back on sugar and processed foods, the latte tasted so much richer and sweeter than it would have a few weeks ago.

Back at the hotel, I had the continental breakfast.

A bowl of Special K.

Which has always been one of my favorite cereals.

Simple little comfort food.

After breakfast, I settled into the hotel room, read my pages, and just enjoyed the quiet.

And there’s something really relaxing about hotel rooms.

At home, there’s always:

  • laundry to fold

  • projects waiting

  • things to clean

  • something calling for your attention

But in a hotel?

There’s nothing to do except be there.

And after two busy weeks, that quiet felt really good.

Lunch + Family Time

For lunch, his mom made caldo de pollo.

Warm, comforting, homemade food.

Exactly the kind of meal that feels grounding on cooler coastal days.

After lunch, I headed back to the hotel to work on my podcast episodes and rest while my partner went back to help his sister finish up some things.

And the slower pace of the day felt really needed.

Snack + Water Progress

For snack, I had two Yoplait yogurts that I grabbed from the hotel breakfast bar earlier in the day.

Simple. Easy. Convenient.

And I was able to finish all my water just after dinner, which made the evening feel a lot more relaxed.

Dinner Plans Changed

Around 6, we went to dinner at Hotel Ivanhoe.

Before going, I had already looked up the menu online and planned out exactly what I was going to order:

  • roasted cauliflower

  • roasted Brussels sprouts

Perfect.

Except when we got there…

the menu was way smaller than what was online.

And suddenly there really wasn’t much available that fit the way I’ve been eating:

  • lower saturated fat

  • lower carb

  • high protein

  • high fiber

So I adjusted.

I ended up ordering the chicken caprese sandwich with a side salad.

And I just didn’t eat the bread.

Simple solution.

Evening Walk + Sunset

After dinner, we took another walk along the Eel River.

And the sunset was incredible.

One of those sunsets that makes everything feel softer for a minute.

Two Weeks In

Two full weeks down.

And one more pound down this week.

That brings the total to seven pounds.

But more than the weight…

I think the biggest shift is how different my body feels overall.

Less swollen.
Less stiff.
More rested.
More aware of what actually supports me.

And I’m realizing more and more that this challenge works best when I stop trying to make it perfect and start learning how to make it fit real life.

Travel days.
Restaurants.
Low energy days.
Busy days.

Life still happens.

And I’m still showing up anyway.

Day 14 Complete

Two weeks down.
Seven pounds down.
Still aligned.
