75 Hard Day 15: Long Drives, Special K & Stuffed Peppers

Sunday — Day 15.

Day 15 started slowly again in Humboldt.

We woke up around 7 and started the morning one more time with the hotel breakfast bar.

And yes…

I had Special K Red Berries again.

Because I love it.

It’s so good.

Simple little comfort food.

Morning Walk Along the Eel River

After breakfast, we took another walk along the Eel River.

Cool air.
Quiet morning.
Small town stillness.

I probably would have swam again…

but after swimming in the hotel pool the other night, I fully convinced myself the monster from It was somehow going to appear in that dark little pool area.

So…

no swimming for me this morning.

Coffee Stop in Ferndale

Before heading out of town, we stopped at a super cute coffee shop in Ferndale.

And I got:

  • a latte

  • with 2 pumps of pistachio

At this point, the pistachio latte has fully become my little treat during this challenge.

Not because I need huge amounts of sugar anymore—

but because the warm foam and creamy texture feel comforting.

Heading Home

Around 10:30, we swung by his mom’s house to say goodbye to the family before starting the long drive home.

Normally, we would stop and eat lunch around 11:30.

But my partner was determined to make it home first and eat something from the fridge.

Which honestly surprised me because he’s usually someone who needs food at very specific times.

I remember asking him:

“You’re seriously not going to eat until 2?”

And he insisted he’d be fine.

I did not believe him.

The Sandwich Situation

Needless to say…

by the time we got home around 1:30, his mood had definitely shifted.

So I immediately made him a sandwich.

And made one for myself too.

Mine had:

  • turkey

  • pesto

  • avocado

  • onions

  • alfalfa sprouts

And for him, I added salami to his.

The second he ate, his entire mood changed.

Which honestly made me laugh because sometimes people really are just hungry.

Slow Afternoon + Low Energy

After the drive home, I was tired.

Low energy.

And we pretty much just laid around the house for the afternoon not doing much at all.

Travel days always seem to catch up with me later.

I did my reading before dinner this time, which felt good getting it out of the way early.

And then we slowly moved into the evening.

Dinner: Stuffed Peppers

Dinner ended up being stuffed peppers with:

  • ground turkey

  • mushrooms

  • zucchini

Warm, filling, simple.

And afterward, I had my square of dark chocolate.

At this point, it’s fully become part of my nighttime routine.

A little signal that the day is winding down.

Evening Walk Through the Hills

After dinner, we went for a walk through the neighborhood hills.

And even though my energy had been low most of the afternoon, the walk helped shake some of that heaviness off.

The evenings have been beautiful lately.

Warm air.
Golden light.
Everything blooming this time of year.

And ending the night moving my body outside felt really grounding after spending so much of the day in the car.

What I’m Noticing on Day 15

I think the biggest thing I’m noticing halfway through the month is that this challenge feels much more manageable when I stop trying to make every day perfect.

Some days are highly productive.

Some days are slower.

Some days involve hotel breakfasts and road trips.

Some days involve laying around the house recovering from travel.

And all of it still counts.

Day 15 Complete

Long drive.
Low energy.
Stuffed peppers.
Still aligned.
