75 Hard Restart Day 11: Movie Day, An Upset Stomach & Listening to My Body
Restart Day 11.
Saturday was one of those slow days.
Nobody had anywhere urgent to be.
Nobody was in a rush.
We all kind of hung around the house and took it easy.
I woke up around 7 and spent the morning moving slowly.
Sometimes that's exactly what you need.
Not every day has to start with a packed schedule and a million things to do.
Breakfast
Breakfast was my usual.
If you've been reading these blogs, you've probably noticed I eat some version of this meal quite often.
two eggs
sourdough toast
strawberries
Simple.
Warm.
Easy.
I also had a latte because lately I've been enjoying the foam way too much.
Practicing My Yoga Sequence
After breakfast, I spent some time practicing a yoga sequence that I'll be teaching soon.
I always like to move through a sequence myself before teaching it.
It helps me feel where transitions need adjusting, where poses need modifications, and where my cues could be clearer.
It's creative.
It's thoughtful.
And it allows me to experience the class the way my students will experience it.
That became my first workout of the day.
Gentle movement.
Nothing intense.
Just flowing through the sequence and making sure everything felt right.
Getting Ahead of the Day
We had decided we were going to see The Mandalorian later.
And I knew if I didn't get my outdoor workout done before we left, the day would get away from me.
So I headed out for a walk through the neighborhood.
This one I did alone.
The weather was nice.
The neighborhood was quiet.
And honestly, I wanted to get it done before the heat settled in.
Lately I've been appreciating how easy walks are.
No planning.
No equipment.
No gym membership required.
Just shoes and movement.
Sometimes simple is best.
Reading Before the Movie
After my walk, I settled in and got my reading done before we left for the movies.
I'm noticing more and more that I prefer getting my pages done earlier in the day whenever possible.
It takes one thing off my mental list.
And after my restart, I've become much more aware of how good it feels to have those non-negotiables handled before the evening.
Lunch
For lunch, I had my usual turkey sandwich.
Turkey.
Avocado.
Tomato.
Alfalfa sprouts.
Red onion.
On sourdough.
Simple.
Familiar.
Easy.
Exactly what sounded good.
The Movie Experience
Then we headed off to see The Mandalorian.
And the weirdest part wasn't the movie.
It was not buying movie snacks.
I don't go to the movies very often.
And when I do, I usually make a whole event out of it.
The popcorn.
The drinks.
The candy.
Maybe chicken strips.
Maybe a cocktail.
The snacks are almost part of the experience.
So sitting there without all of that felt strange.
Not bad.
Just different.
It made me realize how many little traditions we attach to certain activities without even thinking about it.
Not Feeling Great
The truth is, I wasn't feeling particularly good that day.
My stomach was upset.
I felt a little nauseous.
And as the day went on, that feeling didn't really improve.
I don't know if it was the travel catching up to me.
Exhaustion.
Something I ate.
Or just one of those random off days.
But I definitely wasn't feeling like myself.
No Dinner
By the time we got home from the movie, my stomach was really bothering me.
I wasn't hungry at all.
And rather than forcing myself to eat because the clock said it was dinner time, I listened to my body.
So dinner never happened.
No leftovers.
No Lean Cuisine.
Nothing.
Just water.
Rest.
And an increasingly strong desire to crawl into bed.
I was grateful I'd already completed both workouts earlier in the day because by this point I had absolutely no energy left.
An Early Night
I finished my water.
Barely.
And as soon as I got that last bit down, I was done.
I think it was around 7 PM when I climbed into bed.
No TV.
No scrolling.
No staying up.
Just sleep.
What I'm Noticing on Restart Day 11
One thing this challenge keeps reminding me is that not every day is going to feel amazing.
Some days you're energized.
Some days you're motivated.
Some days you're productive.
And some days you're simply maintaining.
Today felt like a maintenance day.
The goal wasn't to crush anything.
The goal was to take care of myself.
Get my workouts done.
Get my reading done.
Finish my water.
And listen when my body was asking for rest.
I think that's something people forget.
Health isn't just about pushing.
It's also about paying attention.
Today my body wasn't asking for more effort.
It was asking for recovery.
And that's exactly what it got.
