Day 1 of 75 Hard: This Is What Alignment Actually Looks Like
Day 1 started slow.
I woke up around 6 and didn’t rush into anything.
Just a quiet morning…
14 oz of warm water in my favorite mug…
and some time on the front porch with the morning sun.
That alone felt like alignment.
Morning Flow
Around 7:30, I had breakfast:
Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and strawberries.
Simple. Light. Easy.
Then I headed out to lead yoga on the lake.
It was cold—so my class got me in a full oversized sweatsuit and fuzzy socks.
Not aesthetic. But real.
We moved through a flow I had intuitively created the day before—
a mix of strength and flexibility that just felt right in the body.
Second Breakfast (Because Real Life)
Somewhere in the middle of all of that…
I forgot my water bottle.
By the time I got home, my stomach was talking to me.
So I made a second breakfast:
Two fried eggs,
a slice of sourdough toast,
and a small avocado.
This is what I mean when I say I’m not forcing anything.
I’m listening.
The Water Is… a Lot
The day itself was actually pretty calm.
We had nowhere to be, which helped—because the water intake?
It’s real.
I was in the bathroom constantly.
Like… every 20 minutes at one point.
That alone changes how you have to move through your day.
Lunch + Little Decisions That Matter
Lunch was simple:
An open-faced tuna sandwich
(canned tuna, half an avocado, alfalfa sprouts on sourdough)
and a banana.
Around 2 PM, I thought about having a coffee.
But the idea of adding anything else on top of a gallon of water?
That decision made itself.
So I skipped it.
Not from restriction—
just from awareness.
3 PM Cravings (And Choosing Differently)
Around 3 PM, I was craving something sweet.
And this is where it would be really easy to spiral.
If I had planned ahead, I probably would’ve made my banana pancakes.
But it was Day 1—and I was working with what I had.
So instead of reaching for processed sugar or sweets,
I made a small shift.
I had two leftover homemade waffles and some strawberries.
Something soft.
A little sweet.
But still grounded.
It was enough.
And that’s what I’m learning—
it doesn’t have to be perfect to be aligned.
Dinner + The Moment I Didn’t Want to Show Up
Dinner was later than planned.
Mediterranean chicken, lentil salad, and sautéed zucchini.
After dinner, I had one square of dark chocolate.
Not as a “cheat.”
Not because I lost control.
Just because I wanted it.
And it fit.
That’s part of this too—
not restricting myself to the point where it backfires later.
Because dinner was late… so was my second workout.
And this was the moment.
I didn’t want to do it.
I was tired.
Full.
Honestly, I just wanted to lay down.
My partner—who’s never done 75 Hard Challenge before—looked at me and said:
“Wow… it’s really hard?”
Yes.
It’s really hard.
When Things Don’t Go as Planned
I got on the elliptical.
Within five minutes, it started acting weird.
And in that moment, I had a choice:
Stop.
Try to fix it.
Or pivot.
So I stepped outside.
No overthinking. No delay.
I walked the hills in the neighborhood instead.
And honestly—it ended up being exactly what I needed.
Fresh air. Quiet. Movement that felt good.
The End of the Day (Where It Counts)
By the time I got home, everything felt rushed.
Shower.
Reading.
Trying to catch up on the things I had pushed to the evening.
Tomorrow, I’ll read in the morning.
That’s already clear.
And then…
The last stretch.
Forcing myself to take progress pictures.
Drinking that final 14 oz mug of hot water to hit my gallon.
THIS is the part.
The finish of the day.
When you’re tired.
When you’re over it.
When your body is like, “we’re done.”
Holding yourself to a commitment is not easy.
This Isn’t Easy
This isn’t an easy challenge.
Your body will tell you to stop.
Your mind will try to negotiate.
“Skip it.”
“Do it tomorrow.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“No one will know”
But you will know.
And the opinions you form about yourself are the only opinions that matter.
What I’m Actually Building
I’m not just completing tasks.
I’m building commitment to myself.
The kind that doesn’t depend on mood.
Or energy.
Or convenience.
The kind that shows up anyway.
Day 1 Complete
Not perfect.
But done.
